Shop says "error" after completing purchase

Postby Captain » Thu Sep 27, 2012 6:22 pm

Just bought Maul, paid with PayPal, and after returning to FXpansion's site, the content area of the website says "error", and nothing else. The same thing also happened a couple of months back when I purchased Geist. Fortunately the transaction went thru in both cases and the products appeared in my account, so everything is fine now, but I'd rather not see some cryptic error messages when I have just typed my credit card number on a website. :)

I use the latest version of Chrome on OS X.

Hi captain,

Interesting. We haven't heard any other similar reports. When you say "the content area of the website says "error", and nothing else", can you be more specific?

You can actually see the error page here:

http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page ... ut=receipt

This is the URL I was returned to after completing the purchase at PayPal, and it shows the same error page if I just go to the same address now. Tried with a couple of different browsers (and with logged in & out), and it seems to show the page exactly as I saw it when actually purchasing, so you should be able to see it too. :)

We have looked into this issue, and cannot recreate the error, or explain things from our side of things. The web team suspect that paypal may have had an outage or an error following the transaction, which seems unlucky if this has happened twice! There is an outside chance that it could be a certain security setting within your browser, or an issue with your paypal account, but we think it unlikely.

We will monitor the issue and let you know if we see this again and find out any more. In the mean time, thanks for bringing this to our attention, and apologies for any confusion caused.

Same thing happened to me this morning, when I paid for Synth Squad... With paypal.. It didn't interfere with the transaction... I figured it was an, "Opera Web Browser Glitch." Cause... I use Opera, but many sites have trouble with Opera, so I ignore a lot of, "errors, and things that need to be refreshed and stuff.

Yesterday I tried to buy Cinematic Percussion for Geist, and the same thing happened once again. However, this time the product did not appear on my account and I did not get an email with reg codes etc, although I did receive an email from Paypal confirming the transaction, and I can also see it on my credit card statement.

I immediately contacted the support via the website form including all the details, but did not receive any emails with support ticket numbers or similar, as I was supposed to (yes, I checked the spambox). This is getting pretty frustrating, and needless to say, things like these (your money is gone, you have no product and and you can't be sure if support even received your message) should never ever happen.

Again, I used the latest version of Chrome on OS X. Here's a screenshot of the problem I described in the first post:

http://www.insomniac-music.com/stuff/fx ... _error.jpg

You can see the product is still in the cart, although I have just returned from Paypal and you'd think the cart would be empty.

EDIT: All good again, got email from the support!
