Forum spam

Postby januarsa » Fri Jun 01, 2018 3:23 am

There is a bunch of Asian spam posts in various sub-forums, eg the BFD2 forum. Could some admin clean it up?

Might need to add something like reCAPTCHA to stop bots posting.

Yeah, it's gone on for months now, since at least November :(
Never seen this level of spam go on this long on an active forum! Surely by this point it's costing more to delete the spam than it would be to implement a fix...

Haven't seen any of the big streams of Chinese spam threads for a while, anyone else seen them or does it look like it's sorted now?

Yeah, it went away for a while, but sometime in the last few months it started again and hasn't relented. Don't know if a protective measure was introduced that the spammers found a way around, or if nothing was done and the spammers just stopped for a while for some reason like their servers were down for a bit.

Going by my earlier post in this thread, this has been an issue for something like 14 months now!
