BFD2 mixer presets for expansion packs!

Postby skrueger » Sat Apr 05, 2008 12:22 pm

Hi mates!

I love my BFD2 and i'm a lucky owner of almost all expansion packs (except the percussion one)! :)

But what i really would like to have too are some BFD2 mixer-presets, especially for the expansion packs!
It's not that i don't want to mix on my own, far from it! It's just, that i really like to get inspiration about kit combinations and, of course, mixing the drums itself. For a non-pro-mixer like me it's a good source for learning from professional and experienced mix engineers!

What do you think?

Thanks and regards,
Stefan

Evil Drums and the andy johns packs from Platinum should really need minimal processing in order to fit in the mix as this aspect has already been done to the source sounds.

We are in the slow process of collecting more presets from various engineers.

However as we are using goodwill and favours to achieve this sometimes we have to sit and be patient.

As for the other packs no promises but when I next get 5 mins spare I will make a couple of basic presets for JnF brush setups.

If people have any questions regarding how to best approach mixing various sounds feel free to ask me and I will gladly bestow knowledge.

However asking me how to drum sound X on album Y is kind of impossible.

Without the same drummer/engineer/studio/drumkit/mics/tuning/damping/desk/tape machine/daw you can only ever get a very broad approximation.

Be original is my motto , innovate dont copy!

Cheers

I dunno if this'll float your boat, but I quite likesy. Supposed to suit more progressive rock/metal type stuff, suited to atmospheric guitars and bass rather than all out thrash.

I can do more at some point.

Probable dumb question alert:

Can this preset be used for the regular BFD2 drums?

Sure, just load it in and then replace the drums. The mixer will keep its settings, and the grooves will remain. Save it after you've changed it.

It's just something I knocked up whilst munching some soup! (I'm going frugal with my dietary choices, yummy!)

Put it in your FXpansion\presets\ folder in your documents section, and then trash and rescan your database.

Another one I whipped up for Evil Drums. Same procedure as before. Couple of grooves in there demonstrating how it sounds.
