Pearl Jam/Dave Abruzzsese kit

Postby Pughey » Sun Oct 11, 2009 12:36 pm

Hi Guys.

Always been a massive fan of Dave A's work with Pearl Jam - and especially the sound he and Nick Di Dia (album engineer) achieved for the Vs and Vitalogy albums.

This is my take on it, using the Masterworks kit as the base, with a piccolo "roomy" snare sound, and eq'd the toms and kick for punch.

Hope you like it. 8)

I like it very much - thank you! That snare's got some heft to it for a piccolo!

Cheers Mike.

Yep - I just increased the Room mic for the piccolo, and made everything else direct (with a little bit of room on the toms). From reading on the net, I think Dave A used a piccolo towards the latter part of his PJ stint, which gave the backbeat that high-end crack.

I love this software 8) . I used to have to crank my old acoustic steel snare to military tensions to get anywhere near a similar sound.

Here's a dry but airy 70s funk/fusion drum sound. Mostly direct, with a subtle hint of ambience.

(There's a palette loaded in the preset to preview it)

Can anyone do a Brad Wilk kit. I love the drum sound on Evil Empire. Thanks in advance.

More Presets Please

In the interest of us all sharing our kits I have uploaded one of mine. It's basic but works REALLY well live. I have included an mp3 of the BFD2 file

Hey guys,
So, I've been checking all these posts out and I'm really liking everything I'm hearing. I was wondering if anyone has been able to make a kit/preset similar in style to The Devil Wears Prada using BFD2 alone (no expansion kits). I heard that they used Slate in their recordings which isn't out for BFD yet, but maybe someone has a preset that sounds the same? Anyone? It would be awesome. Thanks.

Nice work...I'm still new to BFD2, but learning a lot from these kits and presets!

Anyone want to take a stab at creating an Abe L. Jr sound, like the one on Steve Lukathers latest 'Ever Changing Times' cd?

Thanks :)

I just put this in a different thread, so I figured I should add it here too.
