can you please try and make geist a little more user friendly for those of us who don't want to use the onboard sequencer?

Feature requests:
-Load multiple samples at once
-Multiple out routing made easy in protools 11
-Implement pad locking (loved this in guru, lock the pads with sample you want to keep and skip true the rest while the sequence is running).
-easier to use pitch envelopes (more snappy and stable ones like battery and massive)

Geist will never die!

@jalcide, agree on all your points, and yeah d&d would rock, not sure why that's missing when so much else is in there!

I wonder if we will see V2 in 2014?

Geist made me a happy human being. Geist 2 would turn me into something far beyond human.

Feature request - arrows for browsing samples

Postby Joshbrown28 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 10:18 pm

Hi,

I have a very simple feature request for Geist which can hopefully be implemented in a future update. It would be great if we could use the keyboard arrows (up and down) to go through samples in the browser window. This would be very quick to do and would be a huge help to workflow within the software.

Many thanks

Joshbrown28 - in the standalone version you can, but it's disabled in the plugin version because key commands cause all sorts of problems in hosts. This is why we allow MIDI Learn of the control arrows in the Browser. At least that way you can assign something on your MIDI controller to browse through files.

Audio Drag and Drop

Postby natufian » Sun Aug 31, 2014 4:58 pm

The 2 biggest features I see Geist missing is, obviously, audio drag+drop and exporting sliced loops into individual wave files. A little surprised the team skimped on these two features. Great piece of kit overall.

No Hope..

It seems like Geist is abandoned at the moment.. As great as this plug in I hate the lack of updates to key features such as "Convert Timing" "Drag and Drop" or even one the biggest of them all "Adjustable GUI" The crashing it does in a host while manipulating a sample too many times or even adding FX. Hopefully if there is a 2 we can see major improvement .. but so far. I'm moving on to something different. Such as Maschine 2 and Drum Racks in Ableton..

Dumped? Doesnt the program work? Is there a guarantee of future mayor updates when you buy soft?

Besides, isnt there a comment on the previous page of this post from somebody from FXP saying they havent drop development? Who do you believe? A random nickname or some real people from the devs? We ALL want v2 but keep calm ffs :)

Fingerella is right! That, "random nickname" that said, "Nope" was me. And my, "Nope" comment was just a cynical remark dispersed from years of hope being drained from me. I bought DR-008-->GURU-->Geist. Waiting for key fixes, only to see the product abandoned or pushed to the side for newer products.

So no, that is not an official word, as I am not connected with Fxpansion in any way. I have no idea what's going to happen. Just drop in time to time to see if a new revision with the 1 change I was looking for materialized (showing the names of the kits loaded in engines).

But no worries. After spending thousands of dollars on studio software that almost met my needs, but not quite, I have been compelled to begin investigating how to develop my own software tools based on user's needs. We'll see how that goes. I have a software/engineering background, so I won't exactly be starting a ground zero.

But any rate, to all that misinterpretted my reply, ignore it. Maybe they will come through. Just get accustomed to having other workflow options and tools so that you are not held up.

Just think of Geist as a nice suit that's in your closet that you may or may not be wearing often, if at all; especially if you mainly just wear khakis and a button-down. But it's nice to know, you have one in your closet for the prestige. :? Okay. That was a horrible analogy, but you get the idea. Move on and just hope that something happens. If not, there are other products around. In their defense, I think they are a small company/team?
