No. I've used Fxpansion products since the early 2000's with DR-002, DR-008, Guru, and BFD. Updates are mostly bug fixes, with user feature requests being filled far and few in between. However, they've done a good job supporting BFD and synths. Just not Geist and later versions of GURU.
But GURU was the closest to being on track with updates at one point too. It too, was the center of my workflow (mistake). But then they phased it out, went to Geist and started focusing on synths more it seems (with the exception of BFD stuff).
I think at one point (but I am not positive), they had a 3rd party developer (Devine Machine Software) do some of the GURU work for them. But that relationship must have severed or something before getting to GURU 2.0 and going to Geist. But anyhow, its the same formula for years. It looks like they are like most other companies that focus on their bread winner products mostly as opposed to the whole line or legacy stuff. Companies like NI and Ableton are changing that philosophy though it seems.
Not to be a thorn, but as far as drumming, production studio tools, NI has been the most pro-active with pulling in the user's feature requests and complaints. Like many, I did buy Maschine, but by then I had 100's, of tracks and kits tied to GURU. I bought Geist, thinking this would carry the torch from GURU. But the ball kind of dropped. I've kept Geist on the shelf for years now waiting for the basic bread and butter items that I need to be production-efficient (e.g. kit names being displayed in the engine, etc). I refuse to switch over my workflow (again) to something that may or may not be full heartedly supported.
Not to sound negative, but honestly, if Geist doesn't ultimately address the issues that I need (not want, but need), and they keep moving on to other products, this is definitely my last Fxpansion product that I will ever purchase.
But we can threaten them all we want, but it won't matter. Because they won't really miss the Geist users, as their other flagship products will keep them afloat. But I'm not giving anymore money to Fxpansion.
