PLAYING PITCHED DRUMS WITH THE FULL RANGE OF MIDI NOTES

The kick drum sound I'm using on my first song with Tremor has a very obvious pitch. I'd like to make the pitch of the kick follow the bassline of the song. I was able to accomplish this by setting up MIDI automation on the synth's pitch parameter and sending a continuous controller data change with every bass note change.

But it occurred to me that Tremor is basically a synth and perhaps there should be a way to simply send MIDI notes to the particular channel assigned to a particular drum to control the pitch parameter. This would be MUCH easier.
