Kings of Leon and Nickleback (Drums)

Postby AshleySmith08 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 3:08 pm

Hi all,

Today I started work on the kit for the track 'Sex on Fire' by Kings of Leon, just for fun. Let me know what you think.

I also messed around with kit pieces and came up with Nickelback's 'Never Again' a few weeks back after a friend was asking for some CLA type drums for the Steven Slate samples on Gearslutz - I let him know how good BFD is :P

Cheers,

why do you always use that lame download site? it's too slow, and it's really not necessary to post a wave file, an mp3 is adequate enough to get a good idea... just sayin.

Sorry dude, I have a rapidshare premium account and use it a lot for other stuff too. I build up premium points by peoples downloads so I may extend my account for so much % off. I'll try to remember for next time to post mp3's.

not only does it make you wait 30 seconds before the download even starts, but they won't even let you download both files at the same time! I would let that account expire if I were you and look for something else, you'll probably get more plays that way.

I listened to the first one and it sounded good but again the overall volume was low, so a louder mix would have given a better 'wow' factor.

I went for the second and got this

****You have reached the download limit for free-users. Would you like more?

Get your own premium account now! Instant download access! Or try again in about 14 minutes.****

14 minutes???? they must be out of their freakin mind! lol

I'll try the other one tomorrow.

I really dislike that download site you use. It think you did the same thing on gear page some time ago. What a PITA. A few times it has told me that there are just too many users, so unless I upgrade I cannot check your stuff out. Did you know that?

Just keep trying the free user option, it'll work eventually. I'll make sure I upload mp3's zipped here in future

Cool! Thanks!

Liked the tracks by the way and appreciate how much you contribute here.

Would LOVE to see you do that BFD tutorial ASAP! Good luck on that.

Ashley, thanks for sharing. I always look forward to your posts, even if the stuff is on rapidshare ;)

I'm a big fan of Never Again, as I feel it takes me back to a time when Nickelback wasn't so damn over exposed. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the overall sound comes across very compressed, especially that snare sound. I would love to hear how this works with the full mix around it.

NB has a history of having a very live, loud and full sound. Follow You Home from the next album is one that really blows out a fat and juicy drum sound.

Here's another short NickleBack esq one I just cooked up. Beauty of a snare sound IMHO. Gotta luv BFD2 and the PlatinumSamples packs.

Hope this posts ok, got major ISP issues in my area atm for the next few weeks till they fix it

Enjoy!
