Sync issue

Postby tiburcepalmier » Wed Dec 19, 2012 10:17 pm

Hi,

I have a sync issue with Etch 1.0.1.2 and Studio One 2.5. I can hear the lfo slightly desynchronising from the host BPM after 15 sec approximately, I think the LFO is not sync at all. It's very very annoying because it sounds so great on analog synths takes ! Does anyone experienced that already ?

Nicolas.

Its a known issue with long LFO times and will be fixed in an upcoming update :)

Hi,

I downloaded the latest public beta. Unfortunately, the syncing problem is not fixed. Using Ableton Live 8.3.4 32bit on a PC.
Triplets is a mess. Gets even worse when you automate the LFO rate. Makes it hard to make the easiest wobbles....Sorry had to turn to another Plug for timing stability.
Hope you can fix it cause I love the sound.

They're separate bugs. The triplets LFO time is sorted in the new public update over here, but the LFO sync is not. I think it only synchronises the LFO rate when you press play, but not when you change the LFO rate. Etch is great for sound design, but for dubstep wobbliness, you can't yet get that tightness due to the lack of persistent sync!

As I understand it, when changing the LFO rate from the GUI, the sync can drift - this is because we have no control over the users fingers. If you change the LFO speed out of time to your project, it will most likely drift.

However if you change the LFO speed from a midi note, and also use the LFO reset note on the same midi channel, it will remain sync'd.

Typically when changing the rate on a synced LFO, the control signal should jump (with a tiny amount of smoothing) to the level it would be at if it had always been at the new rate. At the moment the Sync option works more like a "Restart LFO on host start" feature.
