BFD Percussion - can't find the kits !

Postby kenwalden » Thu Feb 19, 2015 6:24 pm

Hi friends!

I've tried reloading this several times on a Mac Pro and can't find any kits !

Are there kits for the Percussion Expansion pack?

If so what are they labeled and where should they go?

This has been driving me crazy! Thx! 8)

Did you do a complete rescan of your databases after installing?

yes, and I've reinstalled 3x ...

Tell me this ... there ARE percussion kits? Yes?

If so what is the name of a "kit" file and can I point BFD directly at the kit to import them?

I'm figuring there are percussion kits that the given grooves are designed to play ... yes?

Thank you! :?

This seems to be happening a lot with the percussion and other "older" expansion kits.
My guess is that the installers for those kits need updating as they are still looking for the BFD2 paths so if
you have BFD2 I would suggest going to the BFD3 contents page and clicking on the, 'Add BFD2 paths' and you might find your kits showing up.

Otherwise if you extract these to wherever they need to be on a mac (I'm a windows user) and rescan you should be good to go.

Steve

There aren't any presets though, just kits.

I'm having the same issues. I have no kits/presets showing up. I'm also finding that when I try clearing a kit and loading some kit pieces (yes, snare pieces in snare slots ets) that I'm only getting the "hit" articulation showing up in the groove editor. Have tried everything rescanning content paths for BFD3/2 in all locations but nothing seems to work. Tearing my hair out.

Have you downloaded and extracted the above zip that has all the kits in it? Do that and rescan.

On the groove page, go to 'view' at the top, under articulations make show that, "All" is selected and NOT "Artics used in groove" which is probably what you have.

Hi Steve,

Sorry ... been busy .. trying this now.

No luck ... I don't see any other files with .bfd3kit ending on any of my other libraries. This must be PC specific.

Steve ... do you work for FXpansion?

Any other suggestions would be great and I appreciate your help. :D

Wait ... we have Latin perc kits loading! Finally ... not sure what did it honestly.

Now I'm getting a message "Failed to Load Preview Bundle" when trying to play certain grooves.

Ug ... who wrote this software!?

I don't understand that message at all and have never seen nor heard of it.

There are something like 48 kits with the percussion pack, are you getting this message with all of them?

Can you load the percussion pieces individually?

The thing about percussion kits is they're more often than not used as an accessory to a standard kit and rarely are there actual percussion kits in real life so I have never actually used a whole percussion kit, I just tend to add bits as and when they're required.

There are 122 kit pieces, are they all showing in the kit browser and if so can you load pieces individually?

Hi Steve,

I only get that message when I try to have certain grooves play the kits.

The kits seem to be showing up ok now.

Thanks!

Hello...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What did you do to finally solve this problem? I have now wasted my entire evening trying to get my Percussion Expansion Pack kits to show up.

I have tried everything above, and none of it works. I also don't see anywhere to download the preset kits.

Where are the preset kits in the Percussion Expansion Pack?

I have a newly installed BFD3 (latest version) and a newly installed Percussion Expansion pack (with no preset kits).

I am on Mac OSX 10.9.5.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the kits here and have zipped them for you. In windows they go in C:\ProgramData\FXpansion\BFD3\System\Kits
but I have no idea where they go on your mac. Once you've extracted the kits and pasted them into the default (system) location you should re scan all Contents.

Question, do the kit pieces show up for the percussion kit? If you click on the "Drums" tab and click, "library" is the percussion kit listed?
If there are no kit pieces then the kits probably will load with yellow triangles telling you it can't be located.

Steve

The individual kit pieces do show up, but there are no preset kits built with the pieces. The drum library does show percussion and allow me to view only those kit pieces.

Thank you! I really appreciate this. I will try and figure out where they go.

You need a RAR expander for the Mac in order to open the downloaded file.
