[BR - 0014676] Missing First Notes\Sounds on DAW loop cycle

Postby gwok » Tue May 24, 2016 9:10 pm

Hi there,

Working in reaper, I noticed that I am missing the first note often of a drum beat when reaper is cycle\loop enabled, with short 1 or 2 bar loop.

I tested in Bitwig and Ableton as well, and get the same missing note in Bitwig, but not in Ableton. I tried pretty much every buffer\pref tweak in the DAW's and plugin that I could find with no change\success.

I am on Mavericks, tested as VST and AU (and enabled AU timing pref) on 64bit reaper.

If you need more info to repro, please let me know,

thanks!

made a video, seems to be linked to bpm. In the video you can hear it happen clearly @ 145 bpm, and at 150 it's rock solid.

As well, you can hear when initially starting playback @145, the 1st beat is missing, even though it was not without having been looping previously.

here is another video moving between various tempos. you can hear that on some tempos' the first beat is consistently there, and other tempos, the first beat is consistently not there (130, 145 etc)

and some more info:

1. did the same tests on Geist 1, and the missing notes absolutely do not happen. Playback is completely rock solid.

2. If I draw the pattern into song mode, and playback while in song mode, playback again is rock solid with no missing beats on playback start, or when returning to the beginning of the loop.

cheers

Thanks for the multiple examples, I've submitted a bug report.

Geist v2.1.1.3 64bit
REAPER 5.94 x64
Windows 10 64bit

This is still an issue. It also depends where on the timeline you start playback. I find if I start playback from the very beginning, there are never any missed hits. Starting playback anywhere else (at a position where Geist2 should start at beat 1) sometimes misses the initial beat (depending on where playback starts; and tempo, as explained by gwok). Confirmed no missing beats in song mode.
