Record in problem

Postby tommyf » Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:04 am

Hi,

I have selected a sound on a pad, chosen chromatic on pad input mode, when i play my keyboard its fine, plays the sample chromatically as you would expect, but when i record it in, it sounds really short and glitchy. See pic -

Same thing when pad mode is in normal, its like its chopping the incoming midi notes down to virtually nothing.
any ideas what this is or how to fix it?

mac osx 10.12.16
ableton 9.7.7
geist 2.0.7 64bit

Thanks

That does look a bit bizarre, and certainly looks like 3 of the 4 notes have been shortened! However, your playback mode is set to 'Gated', I recommend you try setting it to 'One Shot' and see how things go. It should play back the whole sample for each hit, which may or may not be what you want, but worth trying out.

Basically 'Gated' will draw a note with the length of time you held the pad down for. It sounds like your hit is playing live as One Shot but recording as Gated.
