I'd like to add for other users - although the minimum system version has changed to Sierra, I've been using this version on Mavericks for a few weeks and not (yet!) encountered any issues.

I just installed the new beta, sadly, it instantly crashes my DAW.

System is:
12core I7 Xeon
64gbRAM
WIndows 10 pro Version 1903
Running Reaper (up to date)
Also tested in FLstudio 20, with same results.
Audio interface is Tascam UH7000

Thanks,
V

Sorry to hear that - were any logs generated? If so, please forward them on to our support team - https://support.roli.com/request

If you roll back to the previous version (v2.1.1.3), does the crash still occur?

Hi!

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I took a look in Windows Event Viewer, it triggers a few errors: I've pasted the XML view of those (see below)
Let me know if you need anything else specific.

I hope this can help, I guess my problem resides in this new version, as it was working before (but not sure it was the latest version, I will test right away and report back)

EDIT: reinstalling previous version 2.1.1.3: works perfectly.

Cheers!
V

Great to see a new beta for Geist!
I have just noticed that the pad names do not update in the pattern sequencer.

Windows 10.

Thanks for sending this over - the report you attached mentions an older version of Geist2, v2.0.7.53, as the cause of the issue. With Reaper closed, try removing the Geist2.dll file from C:\Program Files\Common Files\vst2, installing the latest public beta version and then rescanning the new Geist2.dll, to see if the crash continues to occur.

I think I found another bug when using Geist2 as a VST inside of Cubase 10 Pro.

It will crash Cubase completely.
To reproduce:
1) Open an empty Project.
2) Enter a 4bar pattern.
3) Increase the steps in the sequencer to 32.
4) Shift+Drag and select all Events.
5) Alt+Drag to the new 4bars.
6) Alt+Click somewhere into the sequencer.
-> Crash
This seem to happen only in a fresh session. I used to reproduce that in a old session but without success.

Windows 10
Cubase 10 (latest version)

Hi Laurence!

Thanks for helping me out, indeed it seems I had 2 versions of the DLL installed, deleting both, and reinstalling the beta has fixed the issue.

Cheers!

Great news!! Too much time passes between updates, Geist deserves better - hope this is a regular thing going forward :)

Yeah, a bit shocking really I though Geist was dead in the water!

its great that Geist2 is still being updated.

One feature that would make Geist2 much more usable is if you could quickly export all loop slices to individual wavs. Geist is great at slicing but I don't use it as much as I would like to because I have to export each slice individually.
Would absolutely love to see this update!

Yes!! So happy my favourite and most important plugin is getting updated. Fantastic news!

Definitely want to test this version, but I have relocated all my samples. Can I just make a backup of the app itself and replace the new one to roll back, or is it necessary to use the installer?

I am very interested in more information on the audio engine improvements if you care to elaborate. :-)

Also, is it possible to indicate whether this update means things are starting to settle after the ROLI acquisition and that more resources are being allocated to Geist going forward?

Finally, I do a lot of slicing of funk breaks and it is common for the end of the slice to include a little bit of the following transient, which results in a lot of manual adjustments. If this were sorted out along with the ability to play slices with midi in the slice view (i.e. before hitting 'done') it would be an incredible workflow improvement!

Best regards from a Geist enthusiast.
